US-India Defence Ties Soar with Apache Collaboration

US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor has highlighted the growing defence partnership between India and the United States during a visit to an AH-64E Apache attack helicopter facility, underscoring the aircraft’s role as a “powerful symbol” of joint military collaboration. Accompanied by US Army Secretary Driscoll, Gor emphasised the operational and technological advantages that the AH-64E Apache brings to India’s armed forces.

“I’m thrilled to see the Apache in action,” Gor said in a post on X. “These helicopters support training, technology sharing, and contribute to security across the region.”

The visit underscores the deepening collaboration between the two nations, highlighting continued engagement in defence technology, capability development, and regional stability. This comes months after India and the United States signed a landmark 10-year defence pact titled the “Framework for the US-India Major Defence Partnership” on October 31, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur.

“This visit is a powerful symbol of how we’re delivering on President Trump and Prime Minister Modi’s shared vision for a strong US-India defence partnership,” Gor stated. He added that the advanced American helicopters bolster India’s capabilities, enhance training and technology cooperation, and strengthen regional security.

The agreement aims to deepen coordination, expand technology sharing, and fortify defence industrial ties between New Delhi and Washington. Officials have described it as a crucial step in solidifying long-term military cooperation.

The defence visit aligns with ongoing India-US trade discussions, underscoring the dual significance of strategic and economic ties in the bilateral relationship. Sergio Gor, who assumed his role as US Ambassador to India earlier this month, noted that the Apache helicopter centre visit illustrates the operational focus of the US-India defence partnership and the commitment to enhancing regional security.

As both nations navigate an increasingly complex geopolitical landscape, the Apache helicopter centre visit serves as a tangible example of how defence collaboration is shaping the future of US-India relations. The partnership not only strengthens military readiness but also fosters innovation and mutual growth in defence technologies, setting a precedent for future collaborations.
