Indian defence firm IG Defence has secured significant contracts from the Indian Army and Navy for its indigenous IG T-Shul Pulse anti-drone system, marking a pivotal moment in the country’s push towards self-reliance in defence technology. This development aligns seamlessly with the government’s Make in India initiative, which aims to bolster domestic manufacturing and reduce dependency on foreign imports.
The IG T-Shul Pulse, a cutting-edge, handheld counter-drone jammer, is designed to disrupt and neutralise hostile drones within a 2-kilometre radius under line-of-sight conditions. This system is tailored for frontline troops, perimeter security, military bases, and the protection of critical strategic assets. Its multi-band, directionally controlled electronic denial architecture allows operators to engage threats without compromising friendly communications or naval systems. The system’s directional energy focus also minimises electromagnetic spillover, enhancing safety and operational effectiveness in contested environments, both on land and at sea.
“This is a significant upgrade over legacy single-function jammers,” said an IG Defence spokesperson. “The IG T-Shul Pulse is lightweight, rapidly deployable, and scalable to meet operational requirements.”
The company reported that production is currently in the hundreds, with the capacity to scale up as needed. The systems are expected to be formally introduced into service and operationally deployed with military units within a month, according to Telegraph India.
India’s armed forces have been actively expanding their domestic counter-drone capabilities. Previous orders include man-portable systems from Axiscades Technologies, advanced anti-drone systems and jammers from Paras Anti-Drone Technologies, and hard-kill solutions from Zen Technologies Limited. These investments underscore a broader strategic shift towards enhancing India’s defence infrastructure with homegrown technology.
The IG T-Shul Pulse’s deployment represents a critical step in fortifying India’s defence mechanisms against emerging aerial threats.
