Zen Technologies Secures Patent for 60 mm Mortar Simulator

Zen Technologies Limited has secured an Indian patent for its 60 mm Mortar Simulator, a breakthrough that underscores the company’s commitment to innovation and intellectual property. This latest patent brings Zen’s total to 57 Indian patents and 85 global patents, with this being the eighth patent granted to the company in 2025 alone.

The 60 mm Mortar Simulator represents a significant advancement in military training technology. It offers a comprehensive solution for training with high-angled firing weapons, such as mortar systems. By integrating realistic weapon architecture with advanced sensors, azimuth and elevation controls, recoil simulation, and computer-generated battlefield environments, the simulator provides an unparalleled training experience. This system enables accurate replication of operational conditions, allowing for safe, indoor, and all-weather training without the need for live ammunition or outdoor firing ranges.

“This patent strengthens our competitive position in the global defence markets,” said a spokesperson for Zen Technologies. “Simulation-based training is increasingly adopted to enhance readiness and reduce operational risk. Strong IP protection supports our participation in international defence tenders, collaborations, and export programs.”

Zen Technologies Limited, founded in 1993, specialises in designing, developing, and manufacturing advanced training and simulation systems for defence and security forces worldwide. Headquartered in Hyderabad, the company operates in the UAE and the USA, establishing itself as a key player in the global defence ecosystem. Zen’s portfolio includes live firing ranges, virtual and constructive simulators, comprehensive combat training centres, remote controlled weapon stations (RCWS), and specialised simulators for various weapons and vehicles, such as tank crew and UAV mission simulators.

The company’s products are used by the Indian Armed Forces, paramilitary units, state police forces, and international military customers, with over 1,000 systems deployed globally. Zen’s emphasis on indigenous R&D is evident in its portfolio of over 170 patents and its adherence to certifications like ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 27001, reflecting its commitment to quality and technological innovation.

In recent years, Zen has expanded its capabilities through strategic acquisitions in the UAV and defence technology space and has secured substantial defence contracts. These achievements underscore the company’s growing role in India’s push for self-reliant defence solutions.

The patent for the 60 mm Mortar Simulator not only enhances Zen Technologies’ intellectual property portfolio but also positions the company at the forefront of defence training innovation. As simulation-based training becomes increasingly critical for military readiness, Zen’s advanced technologies are set to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of defence preparedness.
