Paras Defence Secures ₹71.68 Crore DRDO Submarine Periscope Contract

Paras Defence & Space Technologies has secured a pivotal contract from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), solidifying its standing in the defence manufacturing sector. The company announced the acquisition of an order worth ₹71.68 crore from the Instruments Research and Development Establishment (IRDE), a key laboratory under DRDO. This development underscores Paras Defence’s growing capabilities in producing advanced defence technologies.

The contract involves the manufacturing of two optronic periscopes for submarine use. Optronic periscopes are critical components in modern submarines, integrating optical and electronic systems to enhance underwater vision and situational awareness. These advanced systems are essential for the operational effectiveness of submarines, providing commanders with real-time data and improved navigation capabilities.

Scheduled for completion by August-September 2026, the project timeline indicates a multi-year engagement. This extended period not only ensures a steady revenue stream for Paras Defence over the next few years but also highlights the complexity and sophistication of the technology involved. “This contract is a testament to our technical expertise and trustworthiness in handling critical defence projects,” said a senior official from Paras Defence. “It reinforces our commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions that meet the evolving needs of the defence sector.”

The collaboration with DRDO, India’s premier defence research organisation, is a significant milestone for Paras Defence. It not only adds to the company’s order book but also demonstrates its capability to execute high-stakes defence projects. This partnership could potentially open doors for more high-value contracts in the future, contributing to the company’s growth trajectory in the defence sector.

As India continues to prioritise indigenous defence production under initiatives like ‘Make in India’, companies like Paras Defence are poised to play an increasingly important role in the country’s defence ecosystem. The focus on self-reliance in defence manufacturing aligns with broader strategic goals, ensuring that India can meet its defence needs with domestically produced, high-quality equipment.

“This order marks a significant milestone for us,” said Safi Khan, Chairman and Managing Director of Paras Defence. “It further solidifies our position in the defence manufacturing sector and underscores our commitment to advancing India’s defence capabilities.”

The contract with IRDE-DRDO is not just a business win for Paras Defence; it is a strategic step forward in India’s journey towards self-sufficiency in defence production. By leveraging advanced technologies and fostering strong partnerships with leading defence research organisations, Paras Defence is well-positioned to contribute significantly to India’s defence manufacturing landscape.
