DRDO Opens Nominations for 2024 & 2025 National Awards in Defence & Technology

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has announced the opening of nominations for its prestigious National Awards for the years 2024 and 2025, recognising exceptional contributions in the fields of defence and technology. This initiative underscores the organisation’s commitment to fostering innovation and excellence within the defence sector.

The awards, which include the Dr Kothari Defence Science Award and the Dr Kalam Defence Technology Award, each carry a citation and a cash prize of Rs 10 Lakhs. One award will be presented for each category in both 2024 and 2025. These awards aim to honour individuals who have made significant strides in basic research in defence science and the development of defence technology.

Eligible nominees include individuals serving in government, public, or private sectors who have demonstrated outstanding contributions in their respective fields. Nominations must be submitted through the appropriate channels, such as ministries, departments, organisations, or private agencies. The consent of the nominee, reflected through their signature on the nomination and personal information forms, is mandatory.

“The DRDO National Awards are a testament to the incredible talent and dedication within our defence and technology sectors,” said a senior official from the DRDO. “These awards not only recognise individual achievements but also inspire future generations to contribute to the advancement of defence capabilities.”

Nominations must be submitted in the prescribed format and can be sent to the Directorate of Personnel at DRDO Headquarters in New Delhi by December 5, 2025. Additionally, a soft copy of the completed nomination form, along with all required documents, should be emailed to [email protected]. The DRDO has emphasised that nominations received in response to the advertisement dated October 18, 2024, for the year 2024 stand cancelled. This ensures that the selection process remains current and aligned with the latest contributions and advancements in the field.
