His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan visited the Global Industrial and Defence Solutions (GIDS) company in Islamabad on Sunday, according to a royal court statement. The visit underscored the growing defence cooperation between Jordan and Pakistan, highlighting the shared commitment to leveraging advanced technology in military and defence sectors.
During the visit, King Abdullah II was briefed on GIDS’s operations, which include research, development, and manufacturing of military and defence equipment using cutting-edge technology. The company, owned by Pakistan, represents a significant player in the global defence industry, and the visit explored potential avenues for collaboration and expertise exchange between the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army and GIDS.
“This visit is a testament to the strong and enduring relationship between Jordan and Pakistan,” said His Majesty King Abdullah II. “By fostering cooperation in defence technology, we not only enhance our military capabilities but also contribute to regional stability and security.”
The royal delegation included Princess Salma bint Abdullah II, Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, Chief Adviser for Religious and Cultural Affairs and Personal Envoy to the King, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti, and Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh. The visit was followed by a joint attendance of a military drill by Pakistani forces, showcasing the operational readiness and technological advancements of the Pakistani military.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan joined King Abdullah II for the military drill, further emphasizing the bilateral ties between the two nations. The event highlighted the synergy between Jordan and Pakistan in defence and military cooperation, setting a precedent for future collaborations.
