Safe Pro Group Inc. (NASDAQ: SPAI) has secured a $14 million strategic investment led by Ondas Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: ONDS), a move that underscores the growing importance of artificial intelligence in modern defence and security operations. The funding, which follows earlier investments from Ondas and Unusual Machines, will accelerate the deployment of Safe Pro’s SPOTD (Safe Pro Object Threat Detection) systems across both defence and humanitarian applications worldwide.
The investment comes at a critical time, as AI-driven solutions are increasingly being integrated into military and security frameworks to enhance situational awareness and reduce risks to personnel. Safe Pro’s technology has already proven its mettle in real-world conditions, particularly in Ukraine, where the company conducted successful field evaluations. The challenging security environment in Ukraine provided an ideal testing ground for Safe Pro’s systems, demonstrating their effectiveness in detecting and mitigating threats in high-stakes scenarios.
One of the standout innovations from Safe Pro is the SPOTD NODE (Navigation, Observation and Detection Engine), a system capable of generating high-resolution 2D and 3D mapping without requiring internet connectivity. This capability is particularly valuable in conflict zones and remote areas where communications infrastructure may be unreliable or compromised. The NODE system, along with Safe Pro’s SpotlightAI OnSite technology, was demonstrated to multiple U.S. military departments on October 20, 2025, marking a significant commercialisation milestone for the company.
Safe Pro is now advancing the integration of its AI systems with suppliers in the U.S. Army’s Short Range Reconnaissance Program. This integration is designed to help identify more than 150 explosive threat types in real time, significantly enhancing situational awareness for soldiers and allies. By reducing the reliance on traditional human-based analysis methods, Safe Pro’s technology offers a safer and more efficient alternative, potentially lowering casualties from improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and other battlefield threats.
The company’s mission-driven approach leverages commercially available off-the-shelf drones equipped with proprietary machine learning and computer vision technology. This strategy not only reduces costs but also allows for rapid deployment across various operational environments. Safe Pro’s scalable platform, powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS), targets multiple markets, including commercial, government, law enforcement, and humanitarian sectors.
Safe Pro Group’s technology suite includes Safe Pro AI software, Safe-Pro USA protective gear, and Airborne Response drone-based services, all designed to work in synergy to deliver safety and operational efficiency. The company’s progress in Ukraine and its involvement in U.S. military programs highlight the practical application of AI technologies in addressing complex security challenges faced by defence and humanitarian organisations globally.
“This investment is a testament to the growing recognition of AI’s role in modern defence,” said a spokesperson for Safe Pro Group. “Our technology is not just about detection; it’s about saving lives and enhancing operational capabilities in some of the world’s most challenging environments.”
As defence technologies continue to evolve, Safe Pro’s approach represents a significant step forward in the integration of AI into military and security operations. The company’s success in real-world applications and its strategic partnerships position it as a key player in the future of defence innovation.
