Silentium Defence Appoints Bernie White as APAC Head of Future Business

Silentium Defence, a leader in passive radar and advanced situational awareness technologies, has appointed Bernie White as its Head of Future Business for the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. White, a former senior leader on Australia’s AUKUS submarine program and Army veteran, brings a wealth of experience in integrated air and missile defence, radar, and drone operations to the role.

James Palmer, CEO of Silentium Defence, underscored the strategic significance of the appointment. “Bernie brings unmatched expertise in integrated air and missile defence, radar, and drone operations at a time when demand for Silentium’s technology is growing rapidly across the region. His appointment reflects our ambition to scale globally while delivering cutting-edge solutions for defence and national security customers.”

White will spearhead Silentium’s business growth and acquisition strategy across the APAC region, reporting directly to Palmer. This newly created role aligns with Silentium’s plans to accelerate its regional expansion in passive radar and advanced situational awareness technologies.

Reflecting on his new position, White expressed enthusiasm for Silentium’s innovative technology and growth potential. “Silentium’s passive radar technology is a game-changer. I’m excited to help position the company as a leader in the APAC region and work with the team to deliver capabilities that strengthen our allies’ situational awareness.”

White joins Silentium from BAE Systems Australia, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the AUKUS submarine program. Prior to that, he led the Electronic Warfare Sensors and Effectors portfolio, overseeing key programs such as the Joint Strike Missile (JSM) and Wedgetail E-7 aircraft. White’s extensive military background includes serving as Commander of the 16 Air Land Regiment, logging nearly 2,000 drone combat hours, and acting as Australia’s Military Attaché in Washington DC.

White’s academic credentials further bolster his expertise. He is a graduate of the Royal Military College Duntroon and holds postgraduate qualifications in Defence Studies and Management from the University of New South Wales and the Australian Defence College.

Silentium Defence, founded in 2017, has established itself as a pioneer in passive radar and advanced situational awareness technologies. White’s appointment is expected to drive the company’s strategic initiatives, leveraging his deep understanding of defence technology and regional security dynamics.

As Silentium continues to expand its footprint in the APAC region, White’s leadership will be instrumental in navigating the complex geopolitical landscape and delivering innovative solutions to meet the evolving needs of defence and national security customers. His strategic vision and operational experience will be key in positioning Silentium as a leader in the defence technology sector.
