Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) have forged a strategic partnership to bolster India’s Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) programme, a move that underscores the nation’s commitment to indigenous defence manufacturing. The collaboration, aimed at responding to the Government of India’s Expression of Interest (EoI) issued by the Aeronautical Development Agency, merges L&T’s expertise in aerospace and defence platforms with BEL’s proficiency in defence electronics and systems.
This alliance aligns with India’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ vision, which prioritises self-reliance in defence technology. Both companies have a proven track record in the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) programme, supplying critical aero-structure modules and developing mission-essential avionics and electronic systems. Their combined capabilities position them as key contributors to the AMCA initiative, which seeks to develop a fifth-generation fighter aircraft tailored to the Indian Air Force’s requirements.
