Brightcom Group has taken a bold step into the defence technology sector, signing a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) with US-based CQT Weapon Systems. This partnership marks a pivotal moment for Brightcom’s defence vertical, Brightcom Defence, as it unveils its portfolio of indigenously developed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and the Maestro OS, an AI-powered defence operating system.
The collaboration with CQT Weapon Systems, a renowned Michigan-based defence manufacturer, sets the stage for joint development of advanced tactical hardware and AI-enabled systems. By combining Brightcom’s expertise in artificial intelligence and software with CQT’s proven defence manufacturing capabilities, the partnership aims to drive innovation in the defence technology sector.
“We are excited to partner with CQT Weapon Systems to co-develop cutting-edge defence solutions,” said a spokesperson for Brightcom Group. “This collaboration aligns with our vision to leverage AI and advanced technologies to enhance military capabilities and operational efficiency.”
Brightcom Defence’s newly unveiled UAV portfolio includes a range of platforms designed for various mission profiles. The Raven, a long-endurance UAV, is tailored for strategic intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR). The Helix Series offers high-speed mini-UAVs for rapid response scenarios, while the Thunderbolt tactical strike drone-bomber provides precision strike capabilities. Additionally, the Tiburon and Mini Tiburon fixed-wing UAVs are optimised for reconnaissance missions.
These UAVs are seamlessly integrated and orchestrated by the Maestro OS platform, an AI-powered defence operating system that enhances situational awareness, decision-making, and mission execution. The Maestro OS represents a significant leap forward in defence technology, enabling real-time data analysis, predictive analytics, and autonomous operations.
The strategic initiative comes at a time when the global defence technology market is experiencing rapid growth. The AI in the defence technology sector is projected to reach USD 35.78 billion by 2034, driven by increasing demand for advanced, AI-enabled solutions. This growth is further bolstered by India’s increased defence budget and a strategic push for indigenisation, creating substantial demand for homegrown solutions like AI-enabled UAVs and command systems.
Brightcom Group’s Board of Directors has recognised the material importance of this strategic direction and has resolved to seek subsequent approval from the company’s shareholders. As a result, the annual general meeting (AGM), originally scheduled for September 28, 2025, has been postponed to present these matters for shareholder consideration. A revised date for the AGM will be announced in due course.
This partnership and the unveiling of Brightcom Defence’s portfolio signify a significant advancement in the defence technology sector. By combining AI, advanced manufacturing, and strategic collaboration, Brightcom and CQT Weapon Systems are poised to shape the future of defence technology and address the evolving needs of global security.
