Avantel Limited has secured a ₹19.33 crore (including taxes) purchase order from Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T), marking a significant milestone in India’s push for self-reliance in defence communication technologies. The contract, awarded for the supply of satellite communication (Satcom) products, is expected to be completed by July 2026 and underscores the growing emphasis on indigenous innovation in critical defence infrastructure.
L&T, a key player in India’s defence and aerospace sector, is increasingly investing in homegrown solutions to strengthen national security capabilities. This collaboration with Avantel aligns with broader strategic goals to reduce dependency on foreign technology and bolster domestic manufacturing.
“We are proud to secure this important order from Larsen & Toubro Limited,” said Siddhartha Abburi, Director of Avantel Limited. “This collaboration is a testament to our ability to deliver high-quality, mission-critical communication solutions and reflects Avantel’s continued focus on supporting India’s defence and aerospace ecosystem with indigenously developed technologies.”
Avantel’s expertise spans satellite communications, radar subsystems, Software-Defined Radios (SDRs), and defence electronics. The company’s role in this project reinforces its position as a key contributor to India’s defence modernisation efforts. By supplying advanced Satcom products, Avantel is helping to enhance secure, reliable communication networks for military and aerospace applications.
The order also highlights the growing synergy between India’s private defence sector and major conglomerates like L&T. As the country accelerates its Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) initiative, such partnerships are crucial in fostering innovation and reducing reliance on imported defence technologies.
Beyond the immediate project, this collaboration could set a precedent for future defence contracts, encouraging more Indian firms to invest in cutting-edge communication systems. The success of this initiative may also inspire further public-private partnerships, accelerating the development of indigenous defence technologies.
As India continues to strengthen its defence capabilities, Avantel’s role in this project is a testament to the potential of domestic innovation. The company’s ability to deliver mission-critical solutions not only supports national security but also positions India as a growing force in the global defence technology landscape.
