Alchemy Secures $6M to Advance Defence, Automotive Nanotech Innovations

Alchemy, a trailblazer in advanced materials and nanotechnology, has secured $6 million in funding from a consortium of investors, including NameSilo Technologies, Pathfinder Asset Management, and Pembroke Management. This infusion of capital will accelerate the development and commercialisation of its groundbreaking technologies, particularly in the defence and automotive sectors, while bolstering its manufacturing footprint in Canada and fostering international alliances.

At the forefront of Alchemy’s defence innovations is its Crypsis Class technology, a nanotechnology-driven thermal camouflage system designed to minimise heat signatures and enhance concealment for military personnel and equipment. By integrating nanoparticles into textiles, paints, films, and coatings, Crypsis Class promises to revolutionise stealth capabilities across defence and aerospace applications. Alchemy is already collaborating with a major military garment manufacturer to co-develop textile applications, while engaging in discussions with the Canadian Department of National Defence and exploring partnerships with NATO and the Five Eyes intelligence alliance.

“Modern defence requires not only more resilient materials, but also smarter ways of protecting people and equipment. Crypsis Class represents a breakthrough in thermal camouflage, and with this investment, we can accelerate development and deliver at scale to Canada and its allies,” said Khanjan Desai, CEO and co-founder of Alchemy.

Beyond defence, Alchemy’s Automotive Business Unit is making significant strides with ExoShield ULTRA, a next-generation windshield protection film. The company is expanding the availability of this innovative solution across a broader range of vehicle types and international markets, while exploring its application in aerospace to protect exposed windows on aircraft and helicopters.

To meet growing demand, Alchemy is enhancing its manufacturing capabilities by bringing new technology in-house at its Kitchener facility, reinforcing its commitment to Canadian production and innovation. This strategic move underscores Alchemy’s vision to lead both the defence and automotive sectors through technological and manufacturing excellence.

“With automotive and defence both undergoing rapid transformation, we see enormous potential for Alchemy’s technologies across industries. This investment gives us the resources to scale faster, expand internationally, and grow our team to meet the opportunity ahead,” Desai added.

As Alchemy accelerates its development and expands its partnerships, it is poised to redefine the future of defence and automotive technologies, driving innovation and security for Canada and its allies.
