East Tech 2025 to Boost Jharkhand’s Industrial, Defence Growth

Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth has declared that East Tech 2025 will serve as a pivotal moment for Jharkhand’s industrial future. Speaking at the East Tech Seminar 2025, themed “Atmanirbhar Se Sampoornata,” at Kerketta Auditorium in Ranchi, Seth emphasised that the event presents a crucial opportunity to showcase Jharkhand’s potential and empower its entrepreneurs and startups to contribute to India’s self-reliance.

Organised jointly by the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Jharkhand, the seminar saw the unveiling of the official East Tech 2025 logo by Seth. He underscored the importance of Jharkhand’s role in achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of an “Atmanirbhar Bharat” and a self-reliant Ministry of Defence. India’s defence exports, currently valued at over Rs. 23,000 crore to 92 countries, are targeting Rs. 50,000 crore, a goal where Jharkhand’s entrepreneurs can play a significant part.

Major General Madanraj Pandey of the Eastern Command highlighted that East Tech 2025 will bolster the defence sector by strengthening supply chains and addressing critical needs. Major General Sajjan Singh Mann added that the event will bridge the gap between the Army and industries, fostering cooperation, innovation, and technological advancements. Representatives from SIDM and CII stressed India’s rapid progress towards defence self-reliance, with Brigadier Ashish Bhattacharya noting the crucial role of MSMEs in defence manufacturing. CII Eastern Region Chairman Sanjay Sabarpal highlighted the potential for new industrial collaborations.

Former MP Mahesh Poddar described East Tech as a major opportunity for Jharkhand’s MSME sector, while industry leaders such as Jharkhand Chamber President Paresh Gattani, JSIA Secretary Shivam Singh, Laghu Udyog Bharati Secretary Vinod Kumar Agarwal, and Singhbhum Chamber’s Vijay Anand agreed that the expo will drive Jharkhand’s industrial growth. Brigadier Rajkumar delivered the vote of thanks, with all stakeholders agreeing that East Tech 2025 will elevate Jharkhand’s industrial and defence sector participation.

The curtain-raiser event for East Tech 2025 concluded successfully, setting the stage for the defence technology exhibition at Khelgaon Sports Complex from September 19 to 21. Seth, as chief guest, affirmed that the initiative will enhance national security, accelerate regional development, and promote industry participation, technological innovation, and job creation.

This development underscores the growing importance of regional collaboration in India’s defence sector. As Jharkhand positions itself as a key player in defence manufacturing, East Tech 2025 could serve as a model for other states to follow, fostering a more decentralised and resilient defence industrial base. The event also highlights the critical role of MSMEs and startups in driving innovation and self-reliance, a trend likely to shape the future of defence technology in India.
