Türkiye’s IDEF 2025 Showcases Global Defence Industry Growth

Türkiye has launched one of the world’s largest defence industry exhibitions, bringing together military officials and defence contractors from 44 countries to showcase its growing influence in global arms manufacturing. The 17th International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF) spans four venues across Istanbul, including the Istanbul Fair Centre, Atatürk Airport, Atatürk Marina, and WOW Congress Centre. Running until July 27, this six-day event is expected to draw unprecedented participation, with ministers from 33 countries and over 120 deputy ministers, chiefs of staff, and force commanders attending as delegation leaders. More than 400 international firms are displaying cutting-edge military technologies, spanning land, air, and naval defence systems.

The exhibition features an extensive array of equipment, including main battle tanks, electronic warfare systems, guided missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), naval combat ships, and advanced command and control systems. The Ministry of National Defence is hosting the event, with support from the Presidency’s Defence Industries Secretariat and the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation. Organised by KFA Fair Company and with Anadolu Agency as the global communications partner, IDEF 2025 is set to be a pivotal moment for Türkiye’s defence industry.

Haluk Görgün, President of Türkiye’s Defence Industries Secretariat, emphasised the event’s growing commercial significance. “Countries and end-users will discuss their needs here and sign agreements and contracts,” he said, noting that over 5,000 business meetings were organised at the previous fair and expecting even greater engagement this year. “We are ready for a packed fair.”

This year’s event introduces new features, including an extended duration by two days and public access over the final weekend. For the first time, defence enthusiasts and the general public will have the opportunity to explore the latest in military technology. The fair also introduces a Network Summit on its third day, designed to facilitate business connections in a relaxed setting away from the exhibition floor’s bustle.

IDEF 2025 underscores Türkiye’s strategic vision to solidify its position as a global defence leader, fostering international collaboration and driving innovation in military technology.
